"She's a mother without a baby"... that scene from Friends has stayed with me since I was a teenager, but at 26 it breaks my heart as I want nothing more than to be a mother, to bring a life into the world and love him/her unconditionally, to watch them grow into a remarkable individual that can make a difference in the world.
I have considered fostering and adoption, which remain possibilities in the future, but the next 3 years of my life are going to be THE time to try to conceive and have a healthy, fruitful pregnancy... and I don't have a man in my life that I see stepping into the role of helping me make that happen any time soon. My family, both immediate and extended, is very tightly knit, so any soul I bring into my family would never know a day that they weren't loved and cared for and would have the most incredible role models through each stage of their life. Oh, also, they would live each day surrounded by paw prints and endless snuggles from their fur-sisters.
I am a licensed educator, although I am currently working outside of education because of the state of the system since the onset of COVID19. Despite my current vacation from the field, I believe LEARNING and EXPLORATION are the essence of childhood, and that takes place in the home, at play, and at whatever academic institution I decide is the best choice for my child.
I believe in raising a child in God's image, who will act in love and compassion in all they do.
I am in awe at the miraculous improbability of each life, the million moments that preceded our conception, the sacrifices and conquests of our ancestors that culminated in US. That is part of the reason I passionately want to conceive my own child - I want them to have the same connection to my ancestors as I do, to share the knowledge of their incredible lives with my child/ren as they grow up and are able to appreciate their privilege and opportunities in life.
The gratitude I have for you even considering the path of helping someone like me start their family is beautiful and selfless... so, regardless of what the future holds for me, thank YOU for being here!
